All in Stitches!

I always thought it would be Chase that would need stitches first. I couldn't have been more wrong. After finishing her lunch, Juliana was playing in her seat and began pushing against the table with her feet. It doesn't take much imagination to figure out what happened next.
I heard a loud crash and screaming. Not just any screaming, the scream of a child that is really hurt. After picking up the chair I saw blood dripping down Juliana's back. If you have seen Juliana, then you know that she has lots of hair and that it is pretty long for a 16 month old. So finding the cut took a little work. It was more of a gash, about an inch long. Once the bleeding was stopped I called mom to get advice. The next call was to the kids family doctor. I was told that she probably needed stitches and to take her to the ER or a walk in clinic. Not wanting to spend unnecessary money, I decided to tightly french braid her hair to hold the gash shut (mom's idea). She seemed fine, crying had long since stopped and she was up and climbing again. Not my idea, hers. Next I decided to "phone a friend" to get a medical opinion (conveniently, she is our kids doctor). Unfortnately, Bethany was in Tacoma and wasn't expected back until 6 or so. I figured I would take my chances and just keep an eye on Juliana. Surprisingly, Bethany (Dr. Sweet) got back early and was able to check Juli out. Upon examination, it was determined that Juli would need stitches. Something about being able to see the skull or something like that... Juli was a good patient for the most part, lots of crying but she wasn't too mad at the doc once she got some string cheese in her.

Thank Goodness for good friends, family, and great doctors!
